Labrador

Labrador

Labradors have relatively low-maintenance coats, but they still require regular grooming to stay healthy and comfortable.

Bathing (Once a Month or as Needed)

  • Labradors have water-resistant coats that don’t need frequent bathing.
  • Labradors benefit from use of a natural or mild dog shampoo to avoid stripping natural oils.
  • Rinse thoroughly to prevent skin irritation.
  • Labs can develop dry skin or allergies, so monitor for itching or redness.

Ear Cleaning (Once a Week)

  • Labs are prone to ear infections due to their floppy ears trapping moisture.
Use a vet-approved ear cleaner and a cotton ball (never a Q-tip) to clean the ears.

Paw and Skin Care

  • Check paws for cracks or debris, especially after outdoor activities.

Tilly Recommends:

  • Brutus' "No Flies on Me" Shampoo Bar for its healing properties, and tick, flea and midge repellent essential oils.
  • Fleur's "The Comforting One" Shampoo Bar for relaxation and calming sensitive skin, using rose and vanilla essential oils which are natures best combatants for allergic dermatitis and other skin irritations.
  • Sgt MacDougal's nose and paw balm for regular use on nose and paw pads, and to sooth and protect creases from infection.

For extra dirty dogs, consider adding the Activated Charcoal Booster shampoo bar with Rose and Vanilla essential oils.
